Desierto desierto

Performance and installation in collaborative site-specific performance. Wood, stone, earth, plaster, latex, pigment.

Desierto Desierto is a site-specific performance based on sound and sculpture. Based on the cultural and material context, we create dialogue between the body of the sculpture, our bodies, the architectural space and the fields of sound implicit between them. Through a series of performative interventions, we proposed a narrative around the marks found on the walls, the textures of the floor, the windows, the door, the altar. We sought to generate a situation of repose, of contemplation and of heightened sensoriality, offered to small groups of spectators.

Desierto Desierto took place in the hermitage of San Roque, in Olba (Teruel) and was part of ZeicaFest, an art festival in the rural environment. We chose the hermitage for its acoustic properties and due to our interest in how to reinterpret a mystical place through sensorial and material aspects. The sculptural bodies were completed with elements from the environment (logs, stones, sand, branches); the soundscape was based on the significant reverberation of the hermitage, working with the techniques of resampling and acoustic feedback.
