Useless Prosthetics

Found materials (mattress foam, tubes, pipes, fabric). Installation in abandoned TINCO Paint Factory, Barreiro, Portugal, using materials collected on-site. Made while in residency at PADA Studios.

A series of industrial waste objects find new animacy with the aid of specially fabricated “prosthetics.” The objects are interdependent with their fleshy counterparts, becoming a new whole in which each part relies on the other for its aliveness. The purpose of these prosthetics denies capitalist functionality, allowing the objects to enact a “useless,” solely pleasure-based existence.
